A Month of Magic and Growth: April’s Activities to Connect Children with Nature at ICG
Celebrate the green awakening of spring (officially March 19th!) with Ithaca Children’s Garden’s April activities. Beyond the blooming flowers, this month champions children’s access to nature with the launch of ICG’s Scholarship Campaign, which will serve more than 100 families in 2024. Here’s a glimpse:
Spring Volunteer Day (April 6): Dive into spring by helping prepare the Garden for an exciting season ahead from 10 AM to 1 PM. Every hand makes a difference. Interested in volunteering or need more information? Contact volunteer@ithacachildrensgarden.org or call (607) 319-4203.
National Unicorn Day (April 9): A day draped in magic. Your early support for the upcoming Scholarship campaign on this day brings us closer to ensuring every child experiences the wonder of nature.
School’s Out Play Days (April 10): Now enrolling, open to K-5 kids. Children deserve a break to reconnect with nature and unleash their creativity, and ICG aims to provide that experience! We have two scholarship options available: one through ICG and another through the Human Services Coalition.
Daffodil Dash (April 13): Lace up your shoes for the beauty of spring with the 5k dash or the free 1k fun run for kids 12 and under. Every step supports the Scholarship Fund. Ready to race?
Garden Mondays with Master Gardener Phyllis Joyce (starting April 15): Garden Mondays with Master Gardener Phyllis Joyce and ICG Facilities Manager Jason McClevish offer a chance to contribute to the beauty and warmth of the Ithaca Children’s Garden, every Monday 11 AM – 2 PM starting April 15. Dive into various gardening tasks suited to your abilities, enjoy the camaraderie, and help us thrive—no registration is required; bring your enthusiasm (and maybe a water bottle)! Questions? Reach out at volunteer@ithacachildrensgarden.org or call (607) 319-4203.
Kathleen Downes Celebration of Life Anniversary (April 17): Join in honoring Kathleen’s enduring legacy in environmental education with a special fundraising goal that supports the mission of equitable access to nature.
Earth Day (April 22): This Earth Day, make a pledge to support the future guardians of our planet. Contributions lay the groundwork for lasting nature connections.
Looking Ahead: These events are just the beginning. Stay tuned for more details on the Scholarship campaign in April, which aims to bring the Garden’s experiences to more children in Ithaca and beyond.
Let’s celebrate growth and community this April and foster children’s nature connections at Ithaca Children’s Garden!
